Former Malahide United Schoolboy Player and current NDSL Manager Paul Tighe has been inducted into Caldwell University Athletics Hall of Fame in New Jersey, USA.  The Caldwell University Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 2010 to honor student-athletes, coaches and contributors who have played significant roles in the success of the intercollegiate athletic programs at Caldwell University. Tighe came to Caldwell University on a Soccer Scholarship from Ireland in 1991 to play for the Cougars’ first men’s soccer program. Tighe was scouted while playing for his local club Malahide United at schoolboy level. In his first season he  quickly emerged as the team’s main offensive weapon, recording 14 goals and four assists for 32 points as a freshman. A four-time all-conference selection, Tighe tallied 15 goals as a junior and was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year. That season the Cougars won the CACC regular-season title and advanced to the championship game of the conference tournament. Tighe is the Universities all-time leading scorer with 40 goals and 96 points in his stellar career.

“It was a great opportunity for me to travel, play football and further my education,” Tighe said. “The University had just started its Men’s Soccer Program and we lay the foundations for their continued success today” . “ The University is currently on a recruitment drive and is looking for midfielders, wingers, and strikers for next season. They are currently considering players from  U-19 Bundesliga teams and  International Schoolboy players from New Zealand, Ireland and the UK.
